Wanna be a psychologist? None-psychology background? Yes!

Wanna be a psychologist? None-psychology background? Yes!

As transfering into psychology field in western countries is a buzzing topic here,I'm glad to offer you some of my own experience here...
Q1.I'm a non-psycho background bachelor,may I study psychology as an oversea student?
Sure, but you can't jump straight to Master/Phd of Psychology if you'd like to puchase a seriouse psychology degree. You must finish all the psycho undergraduate units with 75%above performance in psychology as prerequisite since you haven't done it before. Even you've gained a bachelor in psychology in Hongkong University, you may be required to take a forth year consequence psychology program(the honors degree) as a transition taking you one year to finish. Then you may apply for a Phd/Master requiring you 3 to 5 years to study. Plus, you need to seek for sufficient relevant practical experience, hundreds hours usually,if you are intending to do clinic in an accredited institute and to be a registered psychologist. Once you are an doctoral student good enough at English and your specilized field, there are lots of streams you can choose. Please make sure what you choose is exactly what you want! So do please think carefully before investing you time and money into an oversea program. Personally, I think it's tough while interesting.

Q2.What can I do if I'm still sticking on studying psychology...?
Do take some units in statistics in your university.it's really help. No matter if you are psycho majored, any unit credit in psychology you've done well in China will be considered as credit transfering into your new program by your target school. It's very money&time-saving.

Here you go, good luck!
